Anita has a genuine passion for real estate, and is constantly striving to change the face of commercial real estate in Western Canada. Not surprising as she grew up surrounded by the real estate industry. Her career has been marked with obstacles, guidance from some incredible mentors and ample amounts of luck and determination.
As a student in the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia, Anita was selected to participate in the Grosvenor Summer Internship in Real Estate program. This gave her a taste of market analysis and forecasting that has become the foundation of her career. While at UBC, she was also chosen to participate as a member of the NAIOP UBC Seattle Development Project Team. This competition simulated a real-life real estate business case and was a highlight of her undergraduate studies.
Upon completion of her degree, Anita joined an international real estate services organization, progressing from junior to senior analyst within a year of taking the position. She was subsequently hired to do acquisitions and divestitures with a Calgary-based real estate firm before becoming a partner in Base10 Capital Advisors. With each of these positions, she has had the opportunity to learn, grow and perform, and handled over $2 billion of commercial real estate transactions.
Always striving to enhance her skills and expand her network, Anita became a member of NAIOP’s Developing Leaders Program in December of 2009. She has also completed Level I of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, and is a licensed real estate broker in Alberta and British Columbia.
One of her career goals is to contribute to enhanced transparency, ethics and standardized reporting in the commercial real estate market. By delivering on this goal, Anita feels she is helping to increase the confidence of equity investors, and help owners, developers and lenders understand where their risks and profits lie and the optimal strategies they can incorporate to achieve their investment goals.
